Bicycle Motocross (BMX). One of the most spectacular cycling disciplines. It came over from the United States in the eighties where cross riders rode on motocross tracks with small bikes. Since 2008, BMX is an Olympic sport.
And more popular than ever before. In the Netherlands too, as our BMX riders rank among the world’s best. So we have seen during the Olympics in 2012 when Laura Smulders won a bronze medal. And in 2016, Jelle van Gorkom won silver in Rio de Janeiro!
Each year, five UCI BMX Supercross world championships are being held. Where Dutch riders can earn important points for the UCI ranking. In 2019, two of these world championships take place @Papendal. All in one weekend! Both on Saturday and Sunday, a UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will be ridden. A unique opportunity for BMX fans to see their heroes in action. Or get to know this dynamic sport. Will you come cheer for our Dutch riders on 10, 11 and 12 May?
